LET US GIVE THANKS!

It would be good if each and every member THANKED GOD for the Church and parishioners He has planted in our lives! Consider what is happening before our very eyes:

A “next generation” of Orthodox Christians is entering the Church to pray and continue the Holy Traditions that were brought here by our brothers and sisters nearly 100 years ago.

Young families come with their children, to baptize, to pray together and to learn about the Faith in Sunday School.

We come more than on Sundays, we come for Vespers, Feastdays and Molebens and Oh how we seem to love the Lenten services and Pascha. More than that we come to study the Scriptures and we visit other churches, monasteries and holy places.

We come not only to pray but to serve. The choir gains voices nearly every week, young boys serve in the Altar and some advance in their faith, aspiring to the Diaconate and soon to the Priesthood!

We labor for the Church. It seems you only have to ask once and a volunteer appears for the task, lists asking for volunteers are quickly filled and jobs are completed.

Our intentions are always good, for the betterment of our church and for our salvation. When there is a misunderstanding, it rarely lasts long and we are quick to forgive and move on, we are a family in Christ!

Are we perfect? No, but we are “on the way”! Could we be better? Of course, that’s what we are working on! We are following God’s teachings and trying our best to live honestly with Christ in our hearts. This is what God asks from us, to simply come and follow Him.

Food Pantry Established

The Altar Guild has established a Food Pantry for those who find themselves without a meal.  This does not replace our Food For Friends program which provides assistance with groceries and a weekly meal.   The purpose of the Pantry is to provide emergency assistance for those people who have been without a meal.  This will help provide a few meals until they are established with the Food For Friends program or other assistance programs.

EXPLORE ORTHODOX CHRISTIANITY

If you are interested in prayer, join us for Vespers on a Saturday evening at 6:30pm. Vespers or the All Night Vigil is the traditional service on the eve of the celebration of the Liturgy. We celebrate in a very simple and quiet manner, usually just a priest, deacon and a reader; those who desire to sing, sing the evening's hymns and responses, other pray silently. Service books and music are available in the vestibule in an easy to follow format. We pray that you will have the opportunity to join us some Saturday evening.

With love in Christ,
 Fr. Andrew

CONFESSION

Confessions are heard every Saturday evening following Vespers and Sunday Morning at 9:00am. Please be sure to arrive on time to participate in the prayers offered before confession.

( Frequent Communion assumes frequent Confession )
