Altar Boy Retreat

A This Year's retreat will be held from June 28- July 1 in Johnstown. On Tuesday the boys will be treated to a Pirates vs. Cubs game at PNC Park in Pittsburgh. Watch the Altar Boy Retreat Liturgy Live Broadcast 6/30/09.

Prepare for the Summer Feast Days

Several popular feasts of the Church are held during the Summer months. With the children out of school, this is an excellent opportunity to present the rhythm of the Church life to your family by participating in the Services.

July 12: Ss. Peter and Paul - "Breaking of the Apostles Fast"
August 1-2: St. Elias - Blessing of the Cars, Motorcycles, and Bicycles
August 18-19: Holy Transfiguration- Blessing of the Fruit
August 27-28: Dormition of the Mother of God - Blessing of Flowers

Volunteers Needed

21st Diocesan Council Committee

The New Jersey Deanery is hosting the all Diocesan Council of the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church, in July at the Ukrainian Orthodox Center in South Bound Brook, New Jersey. Parishioners are needed from every New Jersey parish to volunteer to help host this council. Our Deanery held an organizational meeting in Our Church Hall on Sunday, May 3 at 3:00pm. The next one is scheduled for early June. Please consider attending to learn how you can be of service to the Diocese.

Food Pantry Established

The Altar Guild has established a Food Pantry for those who find themselves without a meal. This does not replace our Food For Friends program which provides assistance with groceries and a weekly meal. The purpose of the Pantry is to provide emergency assistance for those people who have been without a meal. This will help provide a few meals until they are established with the Food For Friends program or other assistance programs.

EXPLORE ORTHODOX CHRISTIANITY

If you are interested in prayer, join us for Vespers on a Saturday evening at 6:30pm. Vespers or the All Night Vigil is the traditional service on the eve of the celebration of the Liturgy. We celebrate in a very simple and quiet manner, usually just a priest, deacon and a reader; those who desire to sing, sing the evening's hymns and responses, other pray silently. Service books and music are available in the vestibule in an easy to follow format. We pray that you will have the opportunity to join us some Saturday evening.

CONFESSION

Confessions are heard every Saturday evening following Vespers and Sunday Morning at 9:00am. Please be sure to arrive on time to participate in the prayers offered before confession.
