Forgiveness Vespers
On this coming Sunday, February 14, at 4pm, we
will celebrate a joint Vespers service with our sister
Church in
Perth Amboy, St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church.
Please plan to attend this first service of Great Lent.
Forgiveness Vespers begins at 4pm promptly; St. John's
is located at 145 Broad Street in Perth Amboy.
There is plenty of parking in the lots directly in front
of the Church..

Scouting
Sunday
This past Sunday, Scouting celebrated its 100th
Anniversary. In Churches across America,
Scouts assembled this day to offer thanks to God for His
Divine Guidance and saving help in their lives. A
special Thank you to Paul Bakaletz for organizing the
event and to the Scout leaders and Scouts who have
attended. May God Grant Them Many Years!

Thank You!

Boxes of packages of Hygiene Kits that
Shipped to Haiti
Our collection for Haiti has been completed. We
collected and assembled 288 IOCC Health Kits and in
addition sent $360.00 to International Orthodox
Christian Charities. The result of our effort was
beyond imagination - A special thank you goes out
those who put in so much extra effort -- Suzanne Hanas
for her efforts in collecting 200 Kits through the
Roosevelt Middle School; Bill and Chris Weiss, and
Lisa Mallick for their working and assembling and
packing the kits; Fed Ex for giving us a discounted rate
in Shipping and the many more who helped by donating
items and funds to the people of Haiti.

Helping Those Close To Home
Our Charity Christmas Tree in the vestibule
will be for FOOD FOR FRIENDS this year.
You can purchase an ornament for the tree
with 100% of the proceeds going to feed the
most needy in our own city. FOOD FOR
FRIENDS operates a free Kitchen each
Saturday and distributes groceries each
month to qualifying Rahway families. Food
For Friends is located in the Presbyterian
Church on the corner of New Brunswick Ave in Rahway.

Food Pantry Established
The Altar Guild has established a
Food Pantry for those who find themselves without a meal.
This does not replace our Food For Friends program which
provides assistance with groceries and a weekly meal.
The purpose of the Pantry is to provide emergency assistance
for those people who have been without a meal. This
will help provide a few meals until they are established
with the Food For Friends program or other assistance programs.

If
you are interested in prayer, join us for Vespers
on a Saturday evening at 6:30pm. Vespers or
the All Night Vigil is the traditional service
on the eve of the celebration of the Liturgy.
We celebrate in a very simple and quiet manner,
usually just a priest, deacon and a reader;
those who desire to sing, sing the evening's
hymns and responses, other pray silently. Service
books and music are available in the vestibule
in an easy to follow format. We pray that you
will have the opportunity to join us some Saturday
evening.
With love
in Christ,
Fr. Andrew
